I was getting my picture taken, saw Emma and called her over. Then I came home, did laundry, and went to LA for the official screening, where we all got to hang out again (this time with everyone’s parents!). I am embracing my lack of social media skills!) (And yes, I know reposting something from a story to a blog is like the most ancient thing ever. I flew to NYC to watch the movie with our director Fia, Bel, who plays Eli and several other people from the cast and crew. The last month or so has been equally surreal. Here’s me a few minutes later, still trying to hold it together: We were just standing there, blubbering together. I was standing there, embarrassed, when our producer Alyssa Rodrigues-who read my books as a teen and got this entire ball rolling-walked up and saw me. But to step into into it, in my home state no less, made me burst into tears. It was the first time I’d left my house in many months, so already surreal. A year ago today, I walked onto the pier at Carolina Beach and into the world of Along for the Ride.
